Magic Stone Academy is a match-3 roguelike about magic stones, wands, contracts, and strange relics.

Clear gems, earn score, survive each round, and build a weird little magical engine along the way. Every run asks you to make different choices: which contract to accept, which wand to rely on, which relics to buy, and how far you can push your luck before the board turns against you.

If you run into performance issues, I strongly recommend downloading the game and playing it locally for a smoother experience.

How To Play

Each round gives you a score target and a limited number of moves.

Match magic stones to score points, trigger chain reactions, charge your wands, and complete contracts. After some rounds, you enter the shop, where you can buy relics that change the rules of the run.

Some relics increase gem value.

Some add strange new stones.

Some reward chains, punish certain colors, or completely change how you think about the board.

The goal is simple:

Reach the score target. Survive the run. Build something broken.

Features

  • Match-3 gameplay with roguelike progression
  • Multiple wands with unique active powers
  • Upgraded wand versions with stronger effects
  • Contracts that add special rules and rewards
  • A shop full of passive relics and build-defining items
  • Stone, gold stone, enchantment, stock, and score-scaling systems
  • Chain reactions, board resets, and escalating round pressure
  • A collection page to browse relics and wands
  • Runs that can become surprisingly chaotic in the best way

Interesting Details

Magic stones are not just colors. Their stock, base score, enchantments, and special effects can all change during a run.

A simple match can become a chain reaction.

A bad contract can become a huge reward.

A strange relic can turn into the center of your entire build.

Some items create stones. Some make stones valuable. Some let you move or destroy them. Some wands let you surgically remove a gem, reroll the board, clear an entire color, or bend the rules of the round.

The fun is in discovering how these systems collide.

Current Version

This is an early playable version of Magic Stone Academy.

The core gameplay loop is already playable:

choose a wand, accept contracts, clear rounds, visit shops, collect relics, and try to finish the run.

I will continue improving balance, UI, content variety, sound, effects, and overall game feel.

Support The Project

If you enjoy the game, consider supporting it.

Your support helps me spend more time adding content, polishing the experience, improving balance, and turning this small magical experiment into a deeper roguelike.

$1,000 - Apprentice Expansion

If total support reaches $1,000, I plan to add:

  • New relics
  • New wands
  • New upgraded wand effects
  • Difficulty 3
  • More contract variations
  • More balance updates and UI polish

$3,000 - Scholar Expansion

If total support reaches $3,000, I plan to add:

  • A large batch of new relics
  • Difficulty 4
  • More advanced contract rules
  • More rare and build-defining items
  • A new Relic Fusion System, allowing certain relics to combine into stronger or stranger effects

$6,000 - Archmage Expansion

If total support reaches $6,000, I plan to add:

  • More wand families
  • More special board mechanics
  • New stone types
  • More enchantment interactions
  • Additional challenge modes
  • More visual and audio polish

$10,000 - Grand Academy Expansion

If total support reaches $10,000, I plan to explore:

  • A full official release
  • A Steam launch
  • A larger progression system
  • More long-term unlocks
  • More late-game difficulty levels
  • More experimental relic systems
  • A bigger content update built around advanced magical builds

These goals are plans, not promises set in stone, but they show the direction I want to take the game if enough players are interested.

Thank You

Thank you for playing Magic Stone Academy.

I hope you find a ridiculous build, break the board in half, and still somehow lose to one greedy contract.

Any chance this could be available for the Web platform at least as a demo?

Yes, I should have a playable web version up this week.
